UbuWebUbuWeb is a massive project that provides user access to the works of thousands of modern-day avant-garde artists working in a variety of media (sound art, music, two-dimensional visual art, video, poetry, etc.) Full-length albums, films, and text resources are available for downloading from such famous figures as Yoko Ono, John Cage, Salvador Dali and many others.
Web Gallery of Art The Web Gallery of Art is a database featuring gallery-quality reproductions of European art from 11th to the 19th centuries. Though WGA speaicalizes in visual art of the Renaissance period, there are a wide variety of artists listed in their index. Artworks can be downloaded from WGA in high-resolution form.
Art History Resources Art History Resources provides links to authoritative thumbnail and in-depth descriptions of all kinds of art methods. Movements, and styles throughout the history of civilization. Most of the subjects are divided by place and/or time period.
The Smithsonian Institution's American Archives of ArtThe Smithsonian Institution's American Archives of Art provides a searchable, interactive database for all of their holdings of American visual art.
ArtLex ArtLex is an authoritative dictionary of art terms. The site also features a translator and a navigable search engine.

IMDB (Internet Movie Database)The Internet Movie Database is most likely the most authoritative site on the internet for any kind of information about movies and the people in them. Movie reviews, biographies, and other data is available for just about every film ever made.
Rotten TomatoesRotten Tomatoes consolidates movie reviews and gives aggregate ratings for popular titles.

Pop Culture Universe is an authoritative digital library of information on American and world popular culture, past and present.
Internet ArchiveThe Internet Archive is home to a myriad of public domain visual artifacts, books, music, radio shows, video, and screen-captured websites. Their Wayback Machine feature provides links to an endless supply of images from any given website as it existed on any date in history, and their Live Music Archive provides free downloadable mp3s of thousands of bands' live shows (including the Grateful Dead and other favorites).

Joliet Herald-News' Online Obituary DatabaseThe Joliet Herald-News has an extensive, searchable obituary database.
Obituaries.com This is another useful online service patrons can use to find obituaries state by state. It links to 800 regional and national news sources (including the Southtown Star), through which patrons can search for names. Obituaries.com also links to the Social Security Death Index database, which can be accessed through a separate module on the site. You may have to pay for some obituary results.
Cyndi's ListCyndi's List is a well-known and trusted compiler of all kinds of links, sites, and data used to locate obituaries around the country.
Legacy.comOne of the larger and more popular free obituary sites. Its list of affiliated newspapers is quite large and includes the Southtown Star and the Tribune. There may be a subscription charge for many record retrievals.
Death IndexesAnother useful obituary link aggregator; contains links to state archives for death records for a number of different eras (i.e. pre-1916, 1916-1950, and others)
