Volunteering at YOUR Library
There are many ways to volunteer your time at the library, so look over the following options and contact the library Director for more information.
Volunteer to work occasionally on special projects like Friends of the Library
book sales or advocacy campaigns.
Volunteer to work regularly for the Friends of the Library in ongoing efforts like maintaining the Book Nook sale shelves and sorting through donations.
Become a regular volunteer at the library, doing things like delivering books to homebound residents or helping out with children’s programming (application process and interview required).
Join the Friends of the Library and volunteer to serve on the Friends’ Board.
Run for a seat on the Library Board of Trustees
(once elected, trustees serve on a voluntary basis). There are 7 seats on the Board, with elections every other year in April, in the odd numbered years. Elected terms are 6 years, with staggered openings, thus there are two or three seats open in any trustee election year.
The library will utilize appropriate volunteer candidates wherever possible, but we cannot promise that volunteer applicants will be offered an opportunity. Decisions to offer volunteer opportunities will be based on each library’s need and on the best interests of the District.
