Circulation Clerk I (Crest Hill Branch)

The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois is seeking applicants interested in a part time Circulation Clerk I position at our Crest Hill Branch.  This position equals 25 hours per week.

The selected candidate will be expected to handle all aspects of patron services in a team atmosphere at our Circulation desk.  Excellent customer service / people skills are a must.  Position reports to the Circulation Supervisor and Branch Manager.

Minimum qualifications: Must possess a high school diploma.  Relevant library experience is a plus.  Spanish language skills are a plus.  Applicants should have computer experience, including Internet and the use of online databases.  Knowledge of the Polaris Database is a plus. Applicants will also be required to travel between our facilities as needed. Clerk I salary range begins at $10.50 per hour and increases commensurate with performance.

Custodian (Lockport Branch)

The White Oak Library District is seeking a part time Custodian to work mornings, Monday-Friday. Library custodians are responsible for routine cleaning, snow removal, landscaping, and meeting room setup and tear-down.  Requires ability to work independently as well as under direct supervision. Duties require ability to work independently as well as under direct supervision.

Minimum qualifications: A high school diploma with 1 year work experience is required. This is a part time position, so applicants should have the ability to work mornings on a regular Monday - Friday schedule but also be able to flex in times of need. Salary begins at $11.50 per hour and increases commensurate with performance.

Adult Services Specialist (Romeoville Branch)

The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois is seeking applicants interested in filling a part-time position in the Adult/Reference Department at our Romeoville Branch.  This part time position equals 18 hours per week.
 
The selected candidate will be expected to provide a diverse range of library patron services including staffing the reference desk, instructing patrons in the use of electronic and print resources, and a variety of related tasks. Position reports directly to the Branch Manager.

Minimum qualifications: Must possess a Library Technical Assistant Certificate (LTA), or possess a bachelor’s degree and relevant experience.  Adult services/reference experience in a public library preferred.  Applicants should have computer experience, including Internet and the use of online databases, and ability to work days, evenings and weekends. Knowledge of the Polaris integrated library system is a plus. Applicants will also be required to travel between our facilities as needed. Salary range begins at $13.50 per hour and increases commensurate with performance.

Adult Services Librarian (Romeoville Branch)

The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois is seeking an energetic, creative and innovative Adult/Reference librarian to fill a part time position at our Romeoville Branch Library.  This position equals 25 hours per week.

The selected candidate will be expected to work within a team of peers to provide a diverse range of professional library services including planning and presenting library programs, collection development, staffing the reference desk, instructing patrons in the use of electronic and print resources, and a variety of related tasks. Position reports directly to the Branch Manager.  

Minimum qualifications: Fully completed MLS from an ALA-accredited graduate program.  Applicants should have computer experience, including Internet and the use of online databases, and ability to work days, evenings and weekends. Knowledge of the Polaris Database is a plus. Applicants will also be required to travel between our facilities as needed. Salary begins at $17.00 per hour and increases commensurate with performance.  

The selected candidate will also undergo a 30 day probationary period, during which time they will be expected to demonstrate certain basic competencies that are considered a minimum requirement for carrying out the duties of this position.

Teen Librarian (Lockport Branch)

Teen Librarian (Lockport Branch) The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois is seeking an energetic, creative and innovative librarian to fill a full time Teen Librarian position at our Lockport Branch Library.  This position equals 40 hours per week.

The selected candidate will be expected to work within a team of peers to provide a diverse range of professional library services to teens and tweens, including planning and presenting library programs, collection development, instructing patrons in the use of electronic and print resources, assisting with coverage of other departments in times of need, and a variety of related tasks. Position reports directly to the respective Branch Manager.  

Minimum qualifications: Fully completed MLS from an ALA-accredited graduate program.  Applicants should have computer experience, including Internet and the use of online databases, and ability to work days, evenings and weekends. Knowledge of the Polaris Database is a plus. Applicants will also be required to travel between our facilities as needed. Salary begins at $17.00 per hour and increases commensurate with performance.

Are you a Librarian who would like to make a few extra dollars?

The White Oak Library District, with locations in Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville Illinois, is seeking librarians with professional ethics and strong public service skills to serve as short term substitute staffing at our public services desks. Ideal applicants will live or work in the area and be available to fill in when regular District staff shortages will leave our desks under-staffed (vacations, conferences, sick days, etc).

Substitute librarians will be expected to provide a diverse range of general library help desk services to all ages. These services will include answering reference questions, instructing patrons in the use of electronic and print resources, and at times acting as the librarian in charge of the building.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: MLS from an ALA-accredited graduate program and reasonable availability to work occasional nights and or weekends. Applicant should have strong computer skills, including Internet and the use of online databases, as well as the ability to learn the basics of the Polaris automation system.

Applicant will also be required to travel between our three facilities, as needed. Salary range begins at $17.00 per hour and increases commensurate with experience and qualifications.
