Mark your calendars now for the Kick-off events scheduled at each branch library. Free ice cream and lots of fun!

Crest Hill Branch – Wednesday, June 6 from 4 to 8 pm

Lockport Branch – Tuesday, June 5 from 1 to 3 pm and from 6 to 7 pm

Romeoville Branch – Tuesday, June 5 from 6 to 7:30 pm

Here are 8 reasons why you and your children should join.

1)      Children and teens will get a big "waive" of any existing fines on their White Oak Library cards just for signing up. Upon completion of the challenge, the remainder of their fines are cleared!

2)      Kids get to spin the wheel for prizes when they sign up and every time they read for 2 hours.

3)      The Library is a fun, safe, free, and air-conditioned environment with day, evening and weekend hours.

4)      Special (free) entertainment is scheduled in June and July including Incredible Bats and an Exotic Animal Show.

5)      Children who read during the summer avoid the “summer reading slide”. Research shows that they increase their chances of maintaining or even increasing their reading level.

6)      Everyone earns chances to win one of the prize baskets designed for various interests and age levels.

7)      Everyone receives a book to keep when they complete the Challenge.

8)      Children who complete the Challenge will also receive an invitation to the Finale Cook-Out being held at the Crest Hill Branch on Saturday, July 14th.
