Summer Reading ChallengeThe 2020 Summer Reading Challenge begins Monday, June 15th and runs through July 31st. There are separate challenges for Teens (entering grades 7 to 12) and for Children (birth to entering grade 6).
Teen Summer Reading Challenge
Teens going into grades 7-12 can participate in our Summer Reading Challenge by filling out a digital reading log.
Reading 6 hours earns them a free book hand selected by our librarians! Every additional log earns them an entry for our prize basket filled with autographed books and other fun goodies!
Children's Summer Reading Challenge -- Register Today for Birth to Entering Grade 6
It will be a little different this year, but what isn't?! Your children will be encouraged to read and track their time reading, but prizes will be distributed only upon finishing. All prizes will be bagged. As a matter of fact, the final prize is a sport bag with fun little prizes inside, and of course a book, which we will choose for each child. There will be no hands-on activities in the department through the end of summer.
When you register online at home or in the Library, you will be given the option of choosing either a no-touch or a low-touch option. No-touch will consist of ALL curbside services, including delivery of the log and 10 books per child based on their reading interests that we will check out before delivering them to your vehicle. Low-touch will take place in the Library with safety restrictions, social distancing, and face covering for everyone over two-years-old. If you are unsure which option you wish to choose, you can switch at any time. At registration, choose the one you will most probably start with. With either option, you can stop by the Library (curbside or in-house) as frequently as you like. We'll have 10 books ready for each child every time we have sufficient lead-time. And rest assured, all materials will be quarantined for at least 5 days before being shelved or chosen for you child.
You can pick up a reading log at the Library, through Curbside Pick-Up, or download it here.
For more information about this, please call your Children's Services Department starting June 8th.
