Cataloger - Romeoville Branch (Full Time)
The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois is currently seeking an energetic and dedicated cataloger to work in our Technical Services Department. This is a full time position. The selected candidate will be expected to work well with the Technical Services Manager and catalogers as well as other library staff and volunteers. Position reports to the Technical Services Manager. The Technical Services Specialist/Professional (cataloger) works under the direct supervision of the Technical Services Manager and is responsible for cataloging, classification, and data entry of District materials in many formats.
Minimum qualifications: For Specialist level applicants, the position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and relevant experience, or a Library Technical Assistant (LTA) certificate with one year of relevant full time work experience, or ten years of appropriate library experience and the ability to learn copy cataloging. Also requires the ability to pass relevant qualifying exams as prescribed by the State Library, the Reaching Across Illinois Library System, or the Pinnacle Library Cooperative. For Professional level applicants, the position additionally requires a fully completed MLIS degree from an accredited University. Applicants should also have strong computer skills, the ability to work days, evenings and weekends, and a deep-seated motivation to deliver excellent support to those relying on the Technical Services Department.
Salary begins at $20.00 per hour for Specialist and $25.00 per hour for Professional and in both cases increases commensurate with performance. Benefits include paid vacation, personal, sick time, and holiday time (including your birthday) as well as IMRF retirement, health insurance, dental and vision benefits. Selected candidate will be required to pass a screen for illegal drugs and submit to a criminal background check before hire.

Children's Services Specialists - Lockport and Romeoville Branches (Part Time)
The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois will soon be expanding its hours of operation. Therefore, we are seeking applicants interested in two new part time Children’s Services Specialist positions at our Lockport and Romeoville Branches. These positions equals 25 hours per week and consists of daytime, evening, and weekend shifts.
The selected candidates will be expected to provide a diverse range of library patron services relating to children, including assistance with library programs, collection development, staffing the Children’s desk, instructing patrons in the use of electronic and print resources, and a variety of related tasks. Positions report directly to the Children’s Services Supervisor.
Minimum qualifications: Must possess a Library Technical Assistant Certificate (LTA), or currently be attending an American Library Association accredited MLS graduate school, or possess a bachelor’s degree and relevant experience. Children’s services experience in a public library preferred. Applicants should have computer experience, including Internet and the use of online databases, and ability to work days, evenings and weekends. Knowledge of the Polaris Database is a plus. Applicants will also be required to travel between our facilities as needed. Salary range begins at $20.00 per hour and increases commensurate with performance.
